Review: Reading stories that were written by library media specialists is always a treat. Reading stories they’ve written that are adorable and send important messages, like girls CAN do magic (and anything else they want) are even that much more special.
The Magician written by Sherri Maret is a picture book with super cute illustrations by Pamela Behrend and an important message for all readers.  –Kayla McNaughton (Former elementary librarian now teacher integration specialist)

Review: The Magician is a wonderful addition to any child’s library. The story of Holly and Buddy the rabbit is adorable and funny. Holly, a budding magician in a predominantly male field, is told that she can only be an assistant.  That doesn’t stop her from following her heart’s desire. With the help of her determined rabbit, an old trunk, and her own perseverance her magic takes off.  The rabbit goes through great lengths to help Holly reach her dreams, but it is teamwork that ultimately helps this duo. This book will encourage children to follow their dreams no matter the obstacles.  The Magician is a fabulous story and filled with everything that makes a children’s book heartwarming.  I cannot wait to read it with my own children. Recommended for grades k-3. -Rebecca Scott, Library Media Specialist

Review: The Magician is an inspiring story about a young girl who wants to become a magician like her uncle. She is met with ‘Girls can’t do magic.’ Fortunately, her supportive uncle and sympathetic furry friend help her pursue this nontraditional career for a young woman. I wish I had read this book when I was a child interested in magic. It encourages young people to go for what they know in their heart will make them happy. I applaud the author for writing a book that encourages children to follow their dreams. In this case, Holly chose magic, and I am very proud and happy to say that my magic has allowed me to perform all over the world and therefore living my dream. -Dorothy Dietrich of The Houdini Museum-Scranton, PA

Review: The Magician is a wonderful magical picture book tale that is fun to read and is beautifully illustrated for youngsters of all ages.   It is filled with hope, fun, and magic. It follows the journey of a young girl and her very special bunny in working towards the dream of creating and performing magic for a big audience. It shows that a girl (or anyone else) can be anything through determination and desire to reach a goal. With magic, the key is practice, practice, practice. This is a book for everyone and is a worthwhile purchase for children, grandchildren, and friends. It does make an awesome gift. -Ron Ishimaru, Member of The Society of American Magicians
